Attestation/Legalization of Documents

  1. Attestation of Documents Originated in India

Please note that both India and Brazil are member of the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961 that abolished the requirement of legalization of foreign public documents. Apostille is done for personal documents like birth/death/marriage certificates, Affidavits, Power of /Attorney, etc. and educational documents like degree, diploma, matriculation and secondary level certificates etc.
Therefore, any document Apostilled in India is acceptable in Brazil thus making it needless to get the documents attested by Consulate again.
For Appostilation/Attestation of documents originated in India, the competent authority in India is CPV Division, Ministry of External Affairs. The Appostilation/Attestation service may be availed online. For more information in this regard, please refer the e-Sanad Portal https://esanad.nic.in/
