General Information & Important Instructions for Visa Applicants
The consular jurisdiction of the Consulate General of India, São Paulo extends to five states of Brazil, namely: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. Applicants residing in these states may apply for visas and consular services at the Consulate. Applicants residing outside this jurisdiction should apply at the Embassy of India, Brasília (https://eoibrasilia.gov.in/index.php).
A regular/paper visa (with a visa sticker pasted on the applicant’s passport) can be obtained from the Consulate for all visa categories.
General Instructions for Visa Applicants

  1. Working Hours:
    Consular services are available from Monday to Friday (except holidays).
    Submission of applications: 09:30 – 12:00 hrs
    Delivery of visas: 15:00 – 16:00 hrs
  2. Eligibility of Foreign Applicants:
    Foreigners/non-residents on short-term visits to Brazil (without RNE card) may apply only for tourist or business visas. Processing for such cases may take up to 7 working days.

Applications from non-Brazilian foreigners must be submitted in the country of their passport, or in Brazil only if they possess an RNE issued at least two years prior.

  1. Protected/Restricted Area Permits:
     These must be applied for in India from the concerned FRRO or district authorities.
  2. Prohibited Items:
     The use of satellite phones and drones is not permitted in India.

Processing Time

  1. Normal visas: 2–3 working days.
  2. Employment visas and visas for non-resident foreigners: up to 7 working days.
  3. Applications requiring approval from authorities in India: one month or longer.

Guidelines for filling an application

  1. Visa applications must be filled online athttps://indianvisaonline.gov.in/.
    Select “Brazil–São Paulo” from the drop menu under Indian Mission.
  2. Complete all sections carefully and upload a clear photo (white background, showing 60% face area). Side profiles, modeling poses, or blurred photos will not be accepted.
  3. The same photo uploaded online must also be pasted on the printed form.
  4. Applicants must sign under the pasted photograph on the first page and at the end of the application.
  5. A Web File Number/Application ID will be generated and should be quoted in all correspondence.
  6. All supporting documents must be attached. Documents in Portuguese or other languages must be accompanied by an English translation.
  7. Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. No representation will be entertained.

Visa Fee Payment

  1. Visa applications must be accompanied by the applicable visa fee, ICWF charges (R$20), and courier (SEDEX) charges (R$70) if opting for return delivery by post.
  2. Fees must be paid directly into the Consulate’s bank accounts by bank transfer or cash deposit.
  3. Please note that there are separate bank accounts for Visa Fee and ICWF charges. The relevant  fee should be credited only to the designated account. The account details are as under:

Important:

  1. Proof/receipt of payment must be attached with the application.
  2. Fees once paid are non-refundable, even if the application is withdrawn or denied.

Application by Post (Courier)
Applicants from distant cities may submit applications by post. For return of passports/visas through SEDEX, an additional R$70 must be included in the fee, along with a self-addressed envelope and a signed authorization letter permitting return by SEDEX.

Submission of Applications
Printed and signed applications, with one photograph pasted on the form, along with required documents have to be submitted in person or by Post at the Consulate. Please send the application along with the fee transfer proof (please see Visa Fee for bank details on this website), Passport and other documents by Post or submit personally, as the case may be to the Consulate at the following address:

Emergency Cases
Visas may be issued on the same day in urgent cases or for outstation applicants. An emergency fee may be charged.

Note: Foreigners visiting India are advised to carry a Yellow Fever Vaccination Card (where applicable) and are reminded that the use of satellite phones (e.g. Thuraya) is strictly prohibited in India.
